What's new
Automation Manager supports more flexible scheduling rules
Automation Manager rules can now target content based on future dates, not just past dates.
Previously, date-based criteria only supported "X days/weeks/months ago" — useful for acting on recently created or modified content, but not for catching content that is about to expire.
A new "ago / ahead" option now enables rules such as:
- "Scheduled start date is more than 30 days ahead" — identify content further in the future
- "Scheduled end date is less than 7 days ahead" — catch entries that are due to be unpublished within the coming week
This makes it easier to build proactive workflows, such as notifying owners before their content is automatically unpublished, or reviewing scheduled entries before they go live.

For more information, see Define rule criteria for Automation Manager.
Rich Media CMS now displays user name and email alongside user IDs
In environments using SSO or Auth Broker, Kaltura’s Rich Media CMS previously displayed raw hashed user IDs for entry owners and collaborators, making it difficult to identify users without checking another system.
The platform now displays the user's first name, last name, and email address wherever users are shown, while still allowing access to the underlying user ID on hover.
Admins can also search for users directly by name or email, without needing to know the internal user ID.

EAD Editor: Real-time timeline sync and improved editing experience
The Extended Audio Description editor has been enhanced to make creating and reviewing audio descriptions faster and more accurate.
Visual AD timeline in the player
Audio Description segments now appear directly on the player timeline as highlighted markers, giving editors a clear visual view of where descriptions are placed in the video.
AD markers always appear above other timeline indicators, making them easier to identify.
Real-time sync between editor and player
The editor and the embedded player now stay in sync as you work:
- Editor → Player: as you add, remove, or adjust AD segments in the editor, the player timeline updates instantly — no reload required.
- Player → Editor: selecting a segment on the player timeline highlights the matching AD text in the editor list and auto-scrolls to it, making it easier to review and edit descriptions.

Cleaner file selection experience
The EAD and Captions editors now display only their relevant file types, making files easier to find and manage.
For more information, see Use the extended audio description (EAD) editor.

In environments using SSO or Auth Broker, entry owners and collaborators were displayed as unreadable hashed identifiers, making it impossible to identify who owned or had access to a piece of content without cross-referencing another system.
Now the user's first name, last name, and email address are shown wherever a user is displayed, with the underlying user ID still available on hover. Users can also be searched by name or email directly.

Users with hashed SSO IDs could not be found by email or name when assigning collaborators. User lookup by email now works regardless of the underlying ID format.

The collaborators search box in the Rich Media CMS was showing only raw user IDs, making it difficult to assign co-editors and co-publishers. Name and email are now visible in search results.

User search was failing inconsistently for usernames containing hyphens. The improved user lookup logic addresses this search behavior.
