How Content Hub and LMS Extension applications work together

About

Content Hubs and LMS Extensions applications in the same Kaltura account can work together (known as 'interoperability').

When user IDs match across the applications, users can see media they own or collaborate on in each one. They can also see where their media is published across applications.

My Media across applications

My Media shows media a user owns or has been added to as a collaborator. The same media appears in My Media across applications when they use the same user ID.

  • In Content Hubs, the user ID is determined by the authentication method configured in the Auth module.
  • In LMS Extensions, the user ID is configured in the Hosted module during setup.

Administrators must make sure user IDs match across the applications.

See where media is published

Users can see where their media is published, including in other applications under the same Kaltura Partner ID.

In the Categories module, set showExternalPublish to Yes and configure the applications to display under externalApplications.

Configure these settings separately in each application where users need to see publishing information from other applications.

Schedule recordings for other applications

Administrators can schedule recordings, such as Kaltura Classroom recordings, for automatic publication to course galleries or channels in LMS Extensions.

To make those destinations available when scheduling in Content Hubs, configure the LMS root categories under additionalRootCategories in the Recscheduling module.

The course category must already exist under the selected LMS root category before it can be selected as a publishing destination.
