What is the Video Portal?
Kaltura's Video Portal (aka MediaSpace or in short KMS) is a customizable media hub designed for storing and sharing media collections within your organization. It empowers end-users to upload, create, and share content based on their permissions. This platform is ideal for fostering community, collaboration, and social activities as it allows for multiple contributors, moderators, and viewers across various channels, projects, and communities.
Your Video Portal administrator takes charge of configuring the site's structure, setting up the homepage, managing media libraries, and adding users with specific entitlements. Administrators utilize both Kaltura's admin console and the Kaltura Management Console (KMC) for these tasks. It's important to note that the KMC serves as the central database for all content uploaded to your account storage, and only administrators have access to it.
How do organizations use the Video Portal?
Internal use - Video Portal can be used for internal training or internal communication where only authenticated users can access and watch content.
External use - Video Portal can be set up for guest users or anonymous users, such as customers or vendors, to view content without the need for authentication.
Hybrid - Video Portal can be configured to have some pages that are open to everyone and some that are restricted to authenticated users only. You can manage user permissions in a variety of ways that allow for this flexibility.
