Channel access and permissions
A channel’s privacy setting determines who can view and contribute content. Your assigned channel role determines what you can do within the channel.
You may have different roles in different channels:
- Members - Can view content.
- Contributor - Can view content, add content, and remove content that they're the owner of.
- Moderator - Can view content, add content, remove content that they're the owner of, and approve content before it can be published.
- Manager - Can view, add and remove any content, approve content before it can be published, and can edit the channel's settings, privacy options, and user permissions. Managers can also access analytics of the channel.
To learn more, refer to Channel end-user permissions.
FAQs
How do I become a channel manager?
An existing channel manager or site administrator must assign you the Manager role. This can be done via the end-user Entitlements CSV or via the channel edit users function.
How do I join a channel?
Depending on the channel settings, a channel manager may need to add you as a member. Subscribing to a channel lets you receive notifications but doesn’t give you channel permissions.
Why can’t I add media to a channel?
You must be a contributor, moderator, or manager to add media. If you can view the channel but can’t contribute, contact the channel manager.
Who can delete a channel?
Channel managers and authorized administrators can delete channels. The available options depend on your permissions and the site configuration.
