Create a recording

Kaltura Capture can record your screen, camera, and audio, or only some of them. You can easily record anything that’s taking place on the screen too. The screen, camera, and audio settings are set to the optimal quality by default, so you can start recording straight away!

Notes

Let's get started!

Get to know the recording tool

  • Stop - When you stop, a warning message displays: Are you sure you want to stop this recording? If you choose 'Yes Stop it', the recording is stopped, and the entry page displays. If you choose 'No', it moves to the previous state, for example, if you paused before clicking STOP, the recording returns to the pause state; if you were recording before clicking STOP, it returns to the recording state.
  • Pause / Resume - Click once to pause anytime during your recording; click again to resume.
  • Cancel - Click on the 'X' to cancel anytime during your recording. A warning message displays: Are you sure you want to discard this recording? Choose 'No' or 'Yes, Discard'. Cancelling a recording will delete it and the recording won't be saved.
  • Duration - As you record, you'll see the timer count up from 00:00:00 so you can track your time.
  • Microphone - The microphone icon displays the amplitude of the sound being recorded or played.
  • Minimize - You can click on the underscore to hide the recording menu. You'll see only the Kaltura Capture icon with a red dot to indicate its recording (as shown below).
  • Annotation - use the various tools to annotate the screen.
