Add Genie to specific channels in Legacy Video Portal

Channel owners can enable Genie in their channels so users can ask questions and discover content based on media in that channel.

Channel owners can turn Genie on or off, depending on how the administrator has configured it.

If Agentic Avatars are enabled for your Genie configuration, users can also start a live conversation with an Agentic Avatar within the channel’s Genie experience.

To enable Agentic Avatars for your Genie configuration, contact your Kaltura representative.

These instructions apply to the legacy Video Portal. If you’re using the new Video Portal with Theming, see the Content Hubs category.

Enable Genie in a channel

  1. From the user menu, select My Channels.
  2. The My Channels page displays.

  3. Find the channel you want to add Genie to and click the pencil icon.
  4. The channel edit page opens on the Details tab by default.

  5. Click the Genie tab.
  6. The tab appears only if your admin has made Genie available to channel owners.

  7. Check the Enable box then click Submit (it may already be enabled by default, depending on your admin’s setup).
  8. The 'Ask Anything' tab displays on the channel page.

    If Agentic Avatars are enabled for your Genie configuration, users will also see the option to start a live avatar conversation within this channel-specific Genie experience.
