Search in galleries in Content Hubs


About

Kaltura provides search tools in galleries so you can quickly find media and channels. You can use keyword search, exact-match search, filters, and sorting options to narrow results.

This feature requires the Theming module to be enabled, with the 'gallerypage' feature set to 'Yes'.

Access the gallery

  1. On the top navigation bar, select the gallery you want to access.

  3. The gallery page has tabs for Media and Channels under which all the published content appears. Choose the tab you want to search in.

Search in media

  1. Click on the search bar and type in keywords related to the title, description, or tags of the media you're searching for.

  3. Press Enter.
  4. To search for an exact match, use quotation marks around the word or phrase, for example, "customer".

  5. You can also use the filters to refine your search. Just click the filters button at the far right.

  7. Choose the desired filters from the menu.

  9. When you find the item you want, click its title or thumbnail to navigate to the entry.

Search in channels

The Channels tab offers searching, filtering, and sorting, making it easier to find and manage channels.

Use the membership filter

The Membership filter lets you display channels based on your role.

The available options are:

  • All Memberships: Displays all channels regardless of the user’s role.
  • Manager: Shows channels where the user is a manager.
  • Moderator: Lists channels where the user acts as a moderator.
  • Contributor: Displays channels where the user contributes content.
  • Member: Shows channels where the user is a general member.
  • Subscribed: Displays channels the user has subscribed to for updates and new content.

You can select multiple options to display channels matching any selected role.

Use the Types filter

The Types filter lets you display channels based on access type.

The available options are:

  • All Channel Types: Displays all channels, regardless of type.
  • Open: Channels accessible to everyone without restrictions.
  • Restricted: Channels requiring specific permissions for access.
  • Private: Channels limited to invited members only.
  • Public & Restricted: Combines publicly visible channels with restricted access settings.
  • Public & Open: Channels that are both publicly visible and open to all users.
  • Shared Repository: Channels used for sharing content within defined groups or repositories.

You can select multiple channel types.

Use Sort by

Use Sort by to organize channel results. 

The available sorting options include:

  • Relevance: Only available when using the text search. Otherwise, this option is grayed out.
  • Creation Date: Displays channels from newest to oldest based on their creation date.
  • Alphabetically - A-Z: Sorts channels alphabetically in ascending order by title.
  • Alphabetically - Z-A: Sorts channels alphabetically in descending order by title.
  • Members & Subscribers: Sorts channels by the total number of members or subscribers.
  • Media Count: Organizes channels by the total number of media items, from highest to lowest.
  • Update Date: Shows channels in order of their most recent updates.

The default sort order is configured in the Channels module settings. Users can change the sort order using the Sort by menu.
