Media likes, plays, and comments

About

On the Entry page, the user may like or unlike the media, see how many likes and/or comments have been left by viewers, and see how many playbacks the media has had. This functionality is available just to the right of the media title.

Likes - Likes are specific to this location only. This is the only place where users can click the "like" button.

Likes will only show if it has been enabled in the Application module.

Plays - Plays (formally 'views') denote playback of the video itself in the context of KMS.

The plays feature must be enabled in the Application module

The KMC displays playback on embeds outside of KMS as well.

Comments - Users can see the comments below the video on the Media page.

This feature must be enabled in the Comments module.

FAQs

  • Are Webcast live entries include play count in KMS/KAF analytics?
No, the play count will not display in live entry types. Play count is available in VOD entries only.
Below is an example of the play count (VOD entry) and without the play count (Live entry):
  • What 'plays' are included in the KMC analytics?
  • Playing an entry in the Preview & Embed window counts as a play in analytics, but the play time isn't tracked. This window is for previewing the player and generating embed code, so play time here isn't included.

For play count reports, the names of users who played the entry in the KMC are recorded, in addition to 'unknown' users from external sources. This helps differentiate between content uploaders, moderators, administrators, and other users.
