About
The Kaltura Connector for AEM integrates Kaltura media with Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service.
AEM Authors can find and embed Kaltura media directly from the AEM page editor. Depending on how the connector is configured, Authors can also upload or record new media while authoring a page.
Media remains stored and delivered by Kaltura, while AEM stores the information needed to display it on the page.
Roles
The connector supports two main roles:
- Content Creator – Uploads and manages media in Content Hubs and makes it available to AEM Authors through a Shared Repository.
- AEM Author – Selects and embeds Kaltura media on AEM pages. If media upload is enabled for the AEM site, Authors can also upload media directly while authoring a page.
How it works
AEM Authors add the Kaltura Video component to a page and select media from the Kaltura media picker. Depending on the configuration, they can select media from My Media, a Media Gallery, or the Shared Repository.
When the AEM page is published, visitors can play the embedded media directly from Kaltura.
Deployment model
The connector is deployed as a standard AEM package and fits into existing AEM Cloud Service workflows. Deployment and setup are typically handled by a Kaltura administrator.
For deployment instructions, see Deployment guide for the Kaltura connector for AEM (Adobe Experience Manager).
Prerequisites
To use the connector, your organization needs:
- An AEM as a Cloud Service environment
- A Kaltura Application Framework (KAF) instance provisioned by Kaltura Professional Services
- Access to a Kaltura environment that hosts your video content
For full steps, see Configure Kaltura settings for AEM (Adobe Experience Manager).
Authoring experience
In AEM, authors work directly in the page editor.
Authors can:
- Drag and drop a Kaltura video component directly onto their page
- Browse, search, preview, and select media without leaving AEM
- Add multiple Kaltura Video components to the same page
- Replace existing media without affecting the page layout
Media details such as title, description, thumbnail, and captions are pulled automatically from Kaltura.
