About
This article explains how to set up the Kaltura Connector for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) after it has been deployed.
The setup connects your AEM Author environment to Kaltura and enables content authors to embed Kaltura media using the Kaltura Video component.
Before starting, make sure the connector package is deployed successfully in your AEM environment. For deployment instructions, see Deploy the Kaltura connector for Adobe Experience Manager.
Before you start
To complete the steps in this article, the following must already be in place:
- An AEM as a Cloud Service environment with the Kaltura Connector deployed
- Administrator access to the AEM Author environment
- A Kaltura Application Framework (KAF) instance provisioned by Kaltura Professional Services
Set up the connector
1. In your AEM Author environment, open the Tools menu and select Cloud Services.

2. On the 'Cloud services' page, select Legacy Cloud Services.

3. On the 'Legacy Cloud Services' page, scroll down to Third Party Services and click Kaltura Cloud Service Configuration.

The list of available configurations displays.

4. Select any one of the available configurations to establish the connection.
You will see several predefined configurations (1–5). These are identical templates provided for your convenience; most organizations only need to select one (e.g., Configuration #1) to establish the connection.
If your organization requires multiple KAF instances for different departments or environments, please contact your Kaltura representative for guidance on which specific configurations to select.
Now AEM can authenticate with Kaltura and make media available through the Kaltura Video Component.
Make the Kaltura Video component available to authors
Adding the component follows Adobe’s standard AEM authoring workflow. For step-by-step instructions, you can refer to Adobe’s documentation, or you can follow the instructions below:
1. Navigate to the AEM page where the video needs to be placed and select Edit Template from the drop-down menu.
2. On the edit template page, click the Policy button.

3. On the policy page under Allowed components, select the Kaltura component from the list.
4. Check Video embed and save the properties.
After the component is enabled, authors can add the Kaltura Video component to pages that use this template.
Access to media and available actions depends on Kaltura user roles and permissions. If an author cannot see expected media or actions, review their Kaltura permissions or contact your Kaltura administrator.
Player setup
Kaltura players control how videos appear and behave on your site. Player availability is managed by administrators. Once configured, available players appear automatically in the Select a player dropdown when authors embed videos using the Kaltura Video component.
Available players appear in the Select a player dropdown when embedding mediaFor details on managing players, see the Admin guide for AEM (Adobe Experience Manager) connector.
