You can add YouTube videos to your Video Portal to expand your content library. Only public videos are supported, which helps ensure copyright compliance.
Adding content from YouTube requires the YouTube module to be enabled.
Add content from YouTube
- Select YouTube from the +Add New drop-down menu.
- Paste the YouTube link into the Video Page Link field , then click Preview.
- Review the metadata fields.The system fills in the video details automatically. You can update the name, description, and other fields as needed.
- Click Save.

The 'YouTube' page displays.


The YouTube entry displays in the preview window on the right. (Only public domain videos are supported.)


(Optional) Select a publishing status.
After saving, the entry is added to your media library. You can access the Edit Media page to edit and manage your entry just like any media entry.
Replace a YouTube link
- Open the media entry.
- Click the Actions menu below the video and select Edit.
- Click the Replace Video tab.
- Enter the replacement video page link or Content ID.
- Click Replace.
- Click Yes to continue.

The edit media page opens.


A Confirmation message displays.
If you'd like to edit the metadata, click the Details tab.

Make the desired changes, then click Save.

If the video doesn’t play in your Video Portal, it may have been removed or made private on YouTube.
Analytics
YouTube entries added through the YouTube module include analytics, similar to other media entries.
Analytics reflect user engagement within Kaltura applications, such as the Video Portal and LMS integrations. They don’t include YouTube playback analytics.
