Simplelogin module

About

The Simple Login module streamlines authentication for events by removing the need for traditional email verification. This hassle-free process improves user retention and accessibility, making it ideal for events designed to prioritize maximizing attendance over strict identity verification.

With built-in security controls, Simple Login allows attendees to access events quickly while restricting activities such as accessing their profiles, making edits, or engaging in private chats with other attendees. However, attendees can still participate in Q&A sessions and respond to polls, ensuring interactive engagement during the event.

By default, KMC users cannot log in using Simple Login. When Simple Login is active, KMC users will need to log in using a different method.

This module is exclusively for Events.

User experience

Give your attendees a seamless and hassle-free way to log into your event using just their email. It's as easy as one, two:

Configure

1. Go to your Configuration Management console and click the Simplelogin module. You can also navigate directly using a link: https://{your_KMS_URL}/admin/config/tab/simplelogin.

The Simplelogin page displays.

2. Configure the following:

enabled - Set to 'Yes' to enable the module.

overrideAuth - Set to 'Yes' to make Simple Login override other authentication methods configured in the Auth module, even if it is not explicitly listed or displayed as part of the Auth module's configuration settings.

Set to 'No' if you want Simple Login to serve as a fallback. For example, if you keep email-based login as the primary method and a user has trouble logging in, you can provide the Simple Login link (https://{your_KMS_URL}/simplelogin/user/login). Users can then log in by entering their email, but they must be registered or invited beforehand.

restrictedUsers

Specify users or groups that cannot use Simple Login.

  1. Click +Add "restrictedUsers".
  2. An additional section displays.

  3. Click Select Users/Groups and type the name of the user or group in the search box. Suggestions will appear as you type if the name is recognized.
  4. Once you've selected the correct user or group, click Submit.

errorMessage - Enter the message to display to users who are not permitted to enter, such as unregistered users, KMC users, or those on the restricted list.

showAlternativeLogin - Enable this option to display an alternative 'Login with Password' link on the login page. This login option is set up in the Auth module.

loginAfterRegister - Automatically logs users into the event immediately after they register.

additionalLink

Use this section to add additional link below the login button, as demonstrated in the image below.

  • linkText - Enter the text for the additional link.
  • linkURL - Provide the URL for the link.
  • newTab - Choose whether the link should open in a new tab or the same tab.

postLoginEmailTemplate - Select an email template to send to users after they log in using this method. Leave blank if no email should be sent post-login. Use the provided link to configure email templates in the emailtemplates module.

3. Once you’ve configured all settings, click Save to apply the changes.
