About
The Recorder module is required to enable media recording in Express Capture. It allows users to record video or audio directly from their browser using Express Capture. This feature relies on the Kaltura HTML Recorder, which uses your webcam and microphone to create media entries without additional software.
To use the Recorder module, your browser must support WebRTC. For a list of supported browsers and more details, click here.
Configure
1. Go to your Configuration Management page, and click on the Recorder module. You can also navigate directly using a link: https://{your_KMS_URL}/admin/config/tab/recorder
The Recorder page displays.
2. Configure the following:
enabled - Set to 'Yes' to enable the module.
allowedRole - Select the users allowed to use this tool. Choose fron the following options:
- Specific users
- privateOnly role
- admin role
- unmoderatedAdmin role
maxRecordingTime - Set the maximum allowed recording time in seconds (leave empty to remove limit).
browserNotSupportedText - Select the text to display when a user reaches the tool from a non supported browser. Use html to add links ( <a>tag).
ConversionProfileId - Fill in a custom conversion profile ID for recordings. Leave the field empty to use the default conversion profile.
playerId - Enter the ID of the player that will be used to view recorded media before upload. The player version must be v7.
addNewLabel - Select a label for the Add New menu items. If left empty 'Express Capture' will be used. Only relevant for the non-Theming header.
recorderOpenInNewTab - Select 'Yes' to launch the recorder in a new browser tab. Select ‘No’ to open in the same browser tab. Note: When using KAF BSE, the recorder will always open in the same tab, regardless of this setting.
enableScreenCapture - Set to 'Yes' to enable the screen recording option.
disableDownload - Set to 'Yes' to disable the ability to download a copy when recording stops.
3. Click Save.
