Monitor activity and performance during a live session

About

Moderators can review key session metrics, send interactions, view and remove session announcements, and monitor stream health during a live session.

Open Live stage

On the session page, click Live stage in the right navigation.

The Live stage panel opens.

Review session metrics

The Live stage displays key information about your session:

  • Unique viewers – The current number of viewers.
  • Chat mood – A quick view of the current chat mood as positive, neutral, negative, or quiet.
  • Turnout – The percentage of registered attendees who are logged in to the session.
  • Engagement rate – The percentage of viewers who are actively watching.
  • Time to end – The time remaining in the session.

Chat mood displays when AI assistant is activated for your account. When AI assistant isn't activated, Turnout displays instead.

Send an interaction

Click Send interaction to open the Interactions tab where you can create, schedule, and publish interactions. See Interaction tools for moderators.

View session announcements

The Updates tab displays the announcements sent to all participants during the session.

  1. Click Updates in the right navigation.
  2. Review the announcements sent during the session.
  3. When a new announcement is sent, it also appears temporarily as a popup on the session page.

Remove announcements

Moderators can remove announcements from the Updates tab during the session.

To remove one announcement:

  1. Hover over the announcement.
  2. Click the trash icon.

The selected announcement is unpublished.

To remove all announcements:

  1. Click the three dots
  2. Select Remove all updates.

All announcements are unpublished.

Keep track of new activity

Red dots show you when there's new activity in an area you're not currently viewing.

When the Live stage panel is open, the red dot appears on the relevant icon:

  • Chat - a new message is available
  • Q&A - new activity is available
  • Feed - a new item has been published to the feed
  • Backchannel – a new message is available
Red dot on the Feed icon indicates new activity in the Feed

The notification dot disappears when you open the area with the new activity.

When the Live stage panel is closed, a red dot appears on the Live stage icon if there's new activity in Chat, Q&A, Feed, or Backchannel.

When you open Live stage, the red dot appears on the icon for the area with new activity.

The red dot only indicates activity that occurs after you join the session. If you refresh and rejoin the session, activity tracking starts again from that point.

Monitor stream health

Stream health monitoring is only available in the Kaltura webcast studio during a live stream.
