Monitor and boost session engagement

About

Note - The Assistant tab is available to moderators only in supported Kaltura Virtual Events sessions. If you do not see the Assistant tab, your event configuration may not include this feature.

The Assistant tab helps moderators monitor session performance, track audience engagement, receive AI-powered insights, and quickly launch engagement activities without leaving the session. It provides real-time metrics, recommendations, and shortcuts to help moderators keep attendees engaged throughout the event.

What can I do with the Assistant tab?

With the Assistant tab, moderators can:

  • Monitor attendee activity in real time
  • Track audience engagement and chat sentiment
  • Receive notifications and recommendations based on session trends
  • Create polls, crowd votes, and chat messages directly from Assistant recommendations
  • Generate additional engagement ideas to help maintain audience participation

Open the Assistant tab

On the session page, click Assistant in the right navigation.

The Assistant panel opens.

Monitor session highlights in real time

The Assistant tab displays key metrics that help moderators understand how a session is performing.

Metric Description
Attendees Number of attendees currently in the session.
Chat mood* AI-based sentiment analysis of group chat activity.
Engagement rate Percentage of viewers actively focused on the session.
Time to end Time remaining before the session concludes.

*Chat mood sentiment analysis is officially supported in English only. Sentiment calculations begin when the session starts and may take approximately two minutes before results appear.

Receive recommendations based on audience behavior

The Assistant continuously analyzes session activity and provides indicators and notifications to help moderators respond to audience trends.

For example, the Assistant may notify moderators when:

  • Audience engagement is increasing or decreasing
  • Audience numbers are growing or dropping
  • A session is about to begin
  • A session is nearing its scheduled end time

These recommendations help moderators determine the best time to launch engagement activities and communicate with attendees.
