About
Media is at the core of the Kaltura platform. This article introduces the different types of media, explains where media is stored, and describes how it's managed.
What is media?
Media is any content you upload, create, or manage in Kaltura.
Media can include:
- Videos
- Audio files
- Images
- Documents
- Interactive content, such as quizzes
Each media item has its own media page, where viewers can view or interact with the content. From the media page, you can also manage the media, share it, or embed it.
Where is media stored?
When you upload media, it's stored in My Media, your personal library. Uploaded media is private by default and isn't visible to other users.
To make media available to others, publish it to a shared location, such as a channel, gallery, or course.
From My Media, you can also manage your content by:
- Editing titles, descriptions, and other metadata
- Replacing the media file
- Adding captions and chapters
- Viewing analytics
- Sharing or embedding media
