Enable this option to display the AI summary and chapters that were created for your video using Kaltura's Content Lab.

Access the player settings

1. Log in to your Rich Media CMS and click the Studio tab. 



The Player Studio page displays. 

2. Click the player you want to edit from the list (or use the search bar in the top right).

Enable and configure Summary & chapters

1. Scroll down to the Navigation & discovery section, find Summary & chapters and click the toggle to expand the configuration sections.
   

   

2. Configure the following:
   • Show before playback - Set whether the Summary and chapters panel is visible before the video begins playing. 
     • Check the box to automatically display the Summary & chapters panel when the video loads, before the viewer starts playback. 
     • Leave unchecked (default) if you want the panel to remain hidden until the viewer begins playing the video. 
   • Side-panel position - Choose where the panel appears relative to the video screen.  
     
     • Right (default): Displays the panel on the right side of the video player.
     • Left: Displays the panel on the left side of the video player.
       
       In our example below, "Left" side panel display has been configured, therefore the panel displays on the left side of the video player.  
       

       

   • Expand side-panel - Define how the panel interacts with the video frame when opened.
     
     • Alongside (default): Opens the panel adjacent to the video and resizes the video playback area to fit both.
     • Over: Overlays the panel directly over the video playback area without altering the video dimensions.
       
       In our example below, expansion of side panel "Over" has been configured, therefore the panel overlays the video playback area, and the video dimensions have not been altered.  
       

       

   • Layout - Choose which components are displayed inside the side panel.
     
     • Summary & chapters (default): Displays both the narrative text summary and the interactive list of chapters.
     • Summary only: Displays only the summary text without chapter timestamps.
     • Chapters only: Displays only the timestamped chapter navigation list.
       
       In our example below, "Summary only" has been configured, therefore only the summary is displayed inside the side panel.   
       

       

   • Behavior - Configure viewer access and interaction options for the Summary & chapters panel.
     • Download summary and chapters: Set whether viewers can download the video summary and chapter information.  
       • Check the box to allow viewers to download the summary and chapters as a file directly from the panel.
       • Leave unchecked (default) if you want to restrict downloading and keep the summary and chapters viewable within the player only.

     • Shareable links for chapters: Set whether viewers can generate and share direct links to individual chapters.  
       • Check the box to enable a shareable link option for each chapter, allowing viewers to copy and share a URL that starts playback at that chapter's timestamp.
       • Leave unchecked (default) if you want to disable chapter-level link sharing.

   • Expand on first play: Set whether the panel opens automatically upon initial playback.

     • Check the box to automatically open the Summary & chapters panel when a viewer starts playing the video for the first time.
     • Leave unchecked (default) if you want the panel to remain collapsed until manually opened by the viewer.
       
       
3. Click Save at the top right of the settings page.
