About
This article gives an overview of the player configuration areas in the Player Studio. From here, admins fine-tune playback, appearance, third-party integrations, and advanced behavior for each player type.
With a wide range of options, you can shape the player to match your brand, accessibility standards, and workflow - everything from captions and CTAs to casting, analytics, and custom CSS - so it works exactly the way you want.
The settings you see depend on the player you’re editing (VOD, audio, or Reels).
For individual guides per setting, see the Player settings category.
Access the settings
1. Log into the KMC and click the Studio tab.

2. From the list, choose the player you want to customize.

The settings page displays.

There are three tabs in the player settings:
- Settings – Includes Playback options, Accessibility & language, Navigation & discovery, Engagement & interactivity, and Controls & permissions

Use these tabs to move between functional areas as you configure the player.

- Navigation & discovery – Features that help viewers browse and explore content, like related videos and chapters.
- Engagement & interactivity – Options that add interaction, such as quizzes, hotspots, and call-to-action elements.

Advanced settings
On the main settings tab, scroll to the bottom and click Advanced settings to open the JSON editor. Use it for configuration that isn’t available in the main settings.
See our article Advanced settings in player for more information.

Player types
The settings you see depend on the player you’re customizing (VOD, audio, or Reels). The following tags are used in the player settings articles to show which players support a feature:
| Tag | Player |

Preview your player
You can preview your changes as you configure the player. You can also change the preview media by clicking the arrow next to the preview video name and choosing a demo or one of your account videos/playlists (ideally one that includes the feature you want to test, like captions, dual screen, quizzes, or hotspots).
