Comments allow users to participate in discussions directly on a media page.
If comments are enabled by your administrator, you can control whether comments are available for individual media items from the Comments tab on the edit page.
You can enable or disable comments for the following supported media items:
- Video
- Audio
- Image
- YouTube
- Document
- Draft entries
Comments for Kaltura Rooms are managed separately through the Interactions settings.
Who can use this
- Media owners
- Co-editors (depending on permissions)
This feature requires the following to be enabled:
- Chatandcollaboration module
- Theming module with the 'mediaedit' and 'mediapage' features set to 'Yes'
Access the Comments settings
- Select My Media from the user menu.
- Locate the desired media, click the three dots to the right and select Edit.
- In the left navigation, click the Comments tab to display the Comments page.
The My Media page displays.

Alternatively, you can access the edit page from the media page by clicking the three dots below the player and selecting Edit.

The edit page opens on the Details tab by default, with a left-hand navigation.


If you don't see the Comments tab, comments may not be enabled for the site or the media type may not support comments.
Enable comments
1. Click the toggle to enable comments.

2. Click Save at the top right.
When enabled, users can view and add comments on the media page.
Comments on recordings of live sessions
If comments are enabled for a live session, they remain available after the session recording is published.
Viewers can continue to view and add comments from the recording page.
User experience
When comments are enabled, a comments icon is displayed on the media page. Viewers can click it to open the Comments panel and participate in discussions.
