Manage metadata in multiple languages in Content Hubs

About

Media owners can add metadata (such as name, description, and tags) in different languages for their media via the Languages tab of the edit page.

This helps present media details to viewers in their preferred language.

  • This feature requires the following to be enabled:
  • The languages available for selection are determined by your administrator's configuration.

Who can use this

  • Media owners
  • Co-editors

Access the Language tab

  1. From the user menu, select My Media
  2. The 'My Media' page displays.

  3. Click the three dots to the right of the desired media and select Edit.
  4. Alternatively, you can access the edit page from the media page by clicking the three-dot menu and selecting Edit.

The edit page opens on the Details tab by default.

  5. In the left navigation, select Languages.

Add a language

  1. Click Add Language.
  2. If no languages have been configured yet, the option is available from both the center panel and the upper-right corner of the page. Once languages have been added, the option is available from the upper-right corner of the page.

The 'Set your default language' window opens.

  3. Select the desired language from the drop-down options.
  4. Enter the name, description, and tags in the selected language.
  5. Click Save.
  6. The first language you add is automatically set as the default, so the Set default language checkbox is unavailable at this stage.

The language is added to the list and becomes the default language for the media metadata.

Add additional languages

  1. Click + Add Language and repeat the steps above for the additional language.
  2. When adding additional languages, the Set default language checkbox is available, so you can change the default language if needed.

  3. Click Save.
  4. The language is added to the list.

Manage existing languages

The Languages page displays all configured languages for the media, including:

  • Language
  • Title
  • Description
  • Tags

From the Actions column, you can:

  • Click the edit icon to update the language details.
  • Click the remove icon to remove a language.

The default language is identified with a Default label. You cannot delete a language marked as Default.

Editing translated metadata

When a custom language is selected, the metadata fields on the Details tab become read-only.

Use the provided link to navigate directly to the Languages tab and edit the translated metadata.
