About
Depending on the platform you're using, you can enter a Kaltura Room session in different ways, such as from a shared link, an event page, or another entry point provided by the host or organizer.
When you access the session, the Set devices window appears so you can configure your camera, microphone, and speakers before entering the room.
If you received a special invitation link by email (for example, to join as a speaker or moderator), see Join a Kaltura Room using an invitation link.
If you experience any issues entering a session, please reach out to your administrator or session organizer for assistance.
Join the session
When you enter a session, the 'Set devices' window appears so you can configure your camera, microphone, and speakers.

Choose how you want to enter the session:
- Join as viewer – Enter the session with your camera and microphone disabled.
- Join stage – Enter the session on stage with your microphone and/or camera enabled.
If the session does not allow direct stage access, you might only see Join as viewer.
Join as a viewer
Joining as a viewer allows you to participate in the session as a member of the audience. Your microphone and camera remain disabled.
As a viewer, you can:
- Watch what is happening on stage
- Use chat and reactions
- Raise your hand
- Participate in polls or quizzes (if enabled)
You will appear in the Viewers section of the Participants list.
On mobile, all users enter the room as viewers by default. You'll have access to chat, participant list, reactions, and other available features, depending on your permissions.
Join stage
Joining the stage allows you to appear on camera and participate using your microphone.
Depending on how the session is configured, you may be able to:
- Join the stage directly
- Request permission to join
- Join after receiving an invitation
For details about these options, see Join the stage in a Kaltura Room.
