You can customize the appearance of your Kaltura Room using the Brand settings.
These settings allow you to:
- Display a background image behind participants on the stage
- Show lower third labels with participant names and profile details
Background images appear behind and around webcams on the stage. Lower thirds display participant information such as name, title, and company at the bottom of the screen.

Room branding features, including background images and lower third display, can only be configured on desktop. Mobile users can see the applied branding during a session, but they can’t edit or access these settings.
Configure your room
Background
- In your Kaltura Room, click the settings icon at the lower right of the toolbar and select Brand.
- Click the Background toggle to enable it.
- Click the image you want to use.
The branding panel opens on the right side of the screen.
The background updates immediately for everyone in the room.
Breakout rooms inherit the same background image and cannot use a different one.
Lower third
The Lower Third feature displays participant information on the stage, including:
- Name
- Title
- Company
This information is taken from the participant’s profile page. You can choose whether to show this information.
To set the Lower Third feature:
- Click the toggle to enable it.
- Choose the lower third display you want from the available options.
As you select an option, the lower third updates in real time for all participants.
When the lower third is enabled, speaking indicators and raised-hand indicators are not displayed.
Click the X at the top right of the branding panel to close it.
