The Streaming tab lets you manage how a live stream is previewed, connected, recorded, and delivered.
Who can use this
- Media owners
- Co-editors
Access the Streaming tab
- From the user menu, select My Media.
- Click the three dots to the right of the desired media and select Edit.
- In the left navigation, click Streaming tab to display the Streaming page.
The 'My Media' page displays.

The edit page opens on the Details tab by default.


Preview the live stream
The Preview stream player monitors the incoming encoder stream before the broadcast goes live.

If no incoming stream is detected, the player displays an offline message.
The player can display:
- Preview status
- Live status
- Stream playback controls
- Stream monitoring playback
Enable preview mode
Preview mode allows moderators to validate the stream before making it visible to viewers.
When preview mode is enabled, the stream remains hidden from viewers until the broadcast is made live from the broadcasting application.

Preview mode is enabled by default for live streams.
To disable preview mode:
- Disable the Preview mode toggle.
- Click Save at the top-right corner.
Stream details
The Stream details section provides the encoder connection information needed to send video to this live stream.
View connection details
In the Stream details section, click View Connection details.

The 'Connection details' window opens.

The window displays available connection values for the live stream.
Available values can include:
- RTMP Primary URL
- RTMP Secondary URL
- RTMPS Primary URL
- RTMPS Secondary URL
- Stream Name
- SRT Primary URL
- SRT Primary stream ID
- SRT Secondary URL
- SRT Secondary stream ID
- Only available values are displayed.
- The connection details window is read-only and can't be edited.
- To copy a single connection value, click the copy icon next to the desired value.
- To copy all connection details, click Copy all & close.
You can also copy all connection details by clicking Copy Connection details.

Download the FMLE XML file
In the Stream details section, click XML for FMLE.

The XML file downloads automatically.
Stream configuration
The Stream configuration section controls how the stream is handled during and after broadcasting.
Configure DVR
When DVR is enabled, viewers can seek backward in the live stream. By default, viewers can rewind up to 24 hours.
To enable DVR:
- Turn on the DVR toggle.
- Click Save at the top-right corner.

Configure recording behavior
Use the Recording menu to control how recordings are saved.
Available options include:
- Turn recording off
- Append recordings to a single entry
- Create a separate entry for each recording
To configure recording behavior:
- In the Recording drop-down menu, select the desired option.
- Click Save at the top-right corner.

View the transcoding profile
The Transcoding profile type section displays the profile used to process and deliver the live stream.

This section is display-only and can't be edited.
Choose a Live Studio type
The Choose Live Studio type section lets you select how the live stream is produced.

Available options include:
- Virtual studio broadcast - Uses the full Kaltura studio experience with collaboration and presentation tools.
- External Broadcast - Uses an external RTMP encoder and production setup.
Only one option can be selected at a time.
To change the Live Studio type, select the desired broadcast type, then click Save at the top-right corner.

Restream destinations
The Restream destinations section lets you broadcast the live stream to additional streaming platforms simultaneously.

You can:
- Add restream destinations
- Edit destination settings
- Remove destinations
