Upload from URL - Admin Guide


About

This module adds the Upload from URL option to the +Create menu (Theming) or + Add New menu (non-Theming). This guide explains how to enable and configure the uploadfromurl module in the Configuration Management console.

This module is for both Theming and non-Theming users.

Configure

  1. Log into the Configuration Management console by going to your video portal URL and adding /admin at the end. 
  2. Enter your Kaltura user ID and password.
  3. Click Sign In.
    The Configuration Management console displays.

  4. In the list of configurable items on the left of your screen, locate and click on Uploadfromurl. (The item will be crossed out because it's disabled by default.)
  5. If this module is not in your KMS application, please get in touch with your Kaltura representative to inquire about adding it.

  6. The Uploadfromurl window displays.

    The Module Info box displays the module name, description (what enabling this module allows users to do), and version number.
  7. Configure the following:
  8. enabled - Set to 'Yes' to enable the module.

    linkText - This is the link name that displays for non-Theming users. You can change the default name by typing in the field.

    linkTextShort - This is the link name that displays for Theming users. You can change the default name by typing in the field.

    linkDescription - This is the link description that displays for Theming users. You can change the default name by typing in the field.

    errorCreatingEntry - This is the default error message shown when the entry creation process fails.

    validateUrl - When set to 'Yes', the module will validate the URL before upload.

  9. Click Save.
  10. You receive a notice that your configuration for Uploadfromurl was saved and the cache was cleared.

    User experience
