Activity indicators (red dots) show when there's new activity in a tab you're not currently viewing.
An activity indicator can appear on the following tabs:
- Chat – A new message is available.
- Q&A – A new question or activity on an existing question is available.
- Feed – A new item has been published.
- Backchannel – A new message is available.
View new activity
A red dot appears on a tab when there's new activity.
In the example below, the Chat tab is open and a notification dot on the Feed tab (pin icon) indicates that a new item has been published.
Click the tab to view the new activity. The red dot disappears when you open the tab.
When the panel is closed, a notification dot can also appear on the corresponding icon on the right side of the screen.
