The Replacemedia module controls whether media owners can replace existing media files while preserving the entry’s metadata, URL, and analytics.

Use this module to enable or restrict media replacement capabilities and to define how replacement is performed (for example, via URL upload and URL validation).

Only video entries can be replaced. Time-based metadata (such as captions or cues) remains unchanged and might not match the new media. After replacement, review and update this metadata as needed.

Configure

  1. Go to your Configuration Management console and click on the Replacemedia module. You can also navigate to it directly using a link: https://{your_site_URL}/admin/config/tab/replacemedia.

    2. The 'Replacemedia' page displays.

  2. Configure the following fields:

    3. enabled - Set to 'Yes' to enable the module.

    replaceMediaFromUrl - Turn on to allow replacing media using a URL upload option.

    validateUrl - Turn on to validate the URL before uploading when using the URL option.

  3. Click Save.

  • Once the Replacemedia module is enabled, the Replace Media tab is added to the media edit page.
