Kaltura Lecture Capture is a software-based solution that runs on standard computers and supports a range of cameras and capture devices.

Use this article to review the hardware, software, and capture cards supported for Lecture Capture.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

• A Kaltura account
• Access to your institution’s legacy Video Portal or LMS Video instance

Hardware and software requirements

Lecture Capture is supported on Windows. It isn’t supported on macOS, Chromebooks, or Blackmagic devices.

The following table lists the minimum hardware and software requirements for installing and using Lecture Capture. For more information, see Kaltura Lecture Capture - Minimum Software and Hardware Requirements for Recording.

Supported cameras and hardware

Lecture Capture records in full HD from a variety of cameras, including:

• USB cameras
• Professional HD cameras
• PTZ cameras

You can connect a camera directly to the computer through USB or use a capture card. A capture card connects an external video source, such as a professional camera, to the computer so Lecture Capture can receive the video.

Lecture Capture can also ingest content from lecture capture hardware that uses the Open Capture Standard.

Live broadcast hardware

Hardware from Kaltura partners, including Cattura and Epiphan, can also support Lecture Capture live broadcasts.

Touch panel support

Lecture Capture doesn’t currently support touch panel integrations.
