Join a Live Studio session in Moodle

About

Live Studio lets you join live sessions in Content Hubs and LMS Extensions using a single session link. The system recognizes each person’s role and shows the appropriate view automatically.

Live Studio runs entirely in your browser – no installation is required. This article focuses on the attendee experience.

Before the session

When you open the session link, the lobby page loads in your browser. Before the session starts, you’ll see:

  • The session title, description, and schedule.
  • A message in the player area stating the session hasn’t started yet.

The lobby remains available until the session goes live.

During the session

When the session starts, the player begins streaming automatically.

As an attendee, you can:

  • Watch the live broadcast in the player area.
  • Follow along with the discussion and share feedback during the session.
  • Use engagement tools such as Chat, Q&A, and interactions such as polls and quizzes (if enabled by the session team).
  • Choose your preferred layout, such as focused view or side-by-side video (layout options depend on the session type and how the session team configured the session).
  • View speaker details and related media below the player.
  • Anonymous viewers can watch the live stream, but can’t post in chat, Q&A, or interactions.
  • You might also be invited directly using a session link. See Join a session in a Kaltura Room for more information.

If your connection drops, refresh the page to rejoin the live stream.

After the session

After the session, the recording is available on the same session page (there’s no separate link to follow). The live player is replaced with a VOD version of the session.

If the owner removes the recording, the page reverts to the lobby view.
