Generate an avatar video on any topic


About

You can generate an avatar explainer video from videos, documents, or webpages.

Avatar Video Studio analyzes the uploaded sources and automatically generates a draft video project with narration, scenes, and supporting media clips.

Generated avatar videos are saved as media entries in My Media and can be reused like other media in the platform.

This feature requires the Avatarvodstudio module to be enabled.

Create a new topic-based project

1. Access Avatar Video Studio from:

  • the user menu by selecting My Avatar Videos.
  • the +Create menu by selecting Avatar Video.
  • This option only appears if the site uses the Theming header.

    The 'New avatar video' window opens.

    2. Select Generate a video on any topic.

    The topic generation workflow opens.

Add sources

Add source materials to guide the generated narration and scenes.

You can add up to five sources to the same project.

Add sources from your media library

  1. Click Your media library.
  2. The 'Select sources' window opens.

  3. Next to the desired file, click Select.
  4. Click Done.
  5. The source is added to the source list.

    You can add multiple sources to the same project.

Add webpage content

  1. Click Webpage.
  2. The 'Add webpage' window opens.

  3. Paste the webpage URL and click Add webpage.
  4. Avatar Studio analyzes the webpage content and adds it to the source list.

    Some websites may block automated access to their content. If the webpage can't be processed, try a different publicly accessible URL.

To remove a selected source, click the X to the right.

After adding your sources, click Next.

Add instructions

Use the instructions field to guide the video.

For example, you can specify:

  • the intended audience
  • the purpose of the video
  • topics to emphasize

Set the video duration

Select one of the preset options:

  • ~1 min
  • ~3 min
  • ~5 min

To define a custom duration, click Custom, and enter the required duration in minutes and seconds.

Generate your draft

Click Generate draft at the bottom of the panel.

Avatar Studio analyzes the selected sources and automatically generates:

  • narration
  • scenes
  • suggested visuals and source clips
  • an avatar

Generating the draft can take several minutes depending on the number and size of the selected sources.

When finished, the generated project opens automatically in the editor.

Review and edit the generated project

The editor includes:

  • A scene panel containing narration for each scene
  • A blue indicator beside each scene reflects the approximate narration duration for the scene.
  • Source clips extracted from the uploaded media
  • A preview window displaying the selected scene
  • A scene timeline for navigating and managing scenes
  • Avatar customization controls

Rename the video

  1. At the top left of the editor, click the pencil icon to open the project name dialog.
  2. Enter a new name.
  3. Click Save.

Generate the final video

When the project is ready, click Generate at the top right.

Generating the final video can take several minutes depending on project length.

During generation the project displays a thumbnail in the 'My Avatar Videos' panel with a generating status.

  • You can only generate one avatar video at a time.
  • Additional generation requests are disabled, and delete and edit actions are unavailable.

After rendering finishes successfully, the thumbnail is updated.

Click the thumbnail to open the generated video. It starts playing automatically.

From the video details view, you can:

  • Download the video
  • Edit the project
  • Open the media page

Access avatar video projects

To access your avatar video projects later:

Option 1: Select My Avatar Videos from the user menu.

Option 2: Access the video from  My Media.
