Create a custom avatar in Avatar Video Studio

Create a custom avatar using your own image and voice. Your custom avatars are saved to My avatars, so you can use them in your avatar video projects.

This article assumes you already have a project open in the Avatar Video Studio editor. If you don't have a project open, see Introduction to Avatar Videos to learn how to access Avatar Video Studio and create or open a project.

  • Custom avatars are specific to your user and aren't shared with other users on your account.
  • Custom avatars can't be edited after they're created.

Open the custom avatar wizard

  1. In the editor, click Avatar in the right panel.

    2. The Avatar panel opens.

  2. Click the current avatar.

    3. The Select avatar panel opens with the Library tab displayed.

  3. Click the My avatars tab.

    4. The My avatars tab opens.

  4. Click Create custom.

    5. The Create your own avatar wizard opens.

Upload an image

1. Click the upload area or drag and drop a JPG image.

Your image must meet these requirements:

  • JPG format
  • Up to 10 MB
  • 1920 × 1080 recommended for best results
  • Minimum resolution of 300 × 300

For best results, use a photo that:

  • Is clear and well-lit
  • Shows a face centered in the frame
  • Doesn't include other people
  • Has a neutral expression

2. Click Next.

Select a voice

1. Click the upload area or drag and drop an MP3 audio sample.

Your audio sample must meet these requirements:

  • MP3 format
  • At least 30 seconds long
  • Up to 8 MB

For best results:

  • Avoid noisy environments.
  • Check your microphone quality.
  • Use consistent equipment.

2. Click Next.

Finalize your avatar

  1. In the Name your avatar field, enter a name for your custom avatar.
  2. Review your avatar image.
  3. Click the play button next to Custom voice to preview the voice.
  4. Select the checkbox to agree to Kaltura's Artificial Intelligence Addendum.

  5. Click Save.

The custom avatar creation process starts. When your avatar is ready, it appears in the My avatars tab and is automatically selected.

When a custom avatar is selected, background selection isn't available. The Color and Image options are disabled.

Delete a custom avatar

  1. In the My avatars tab, locate the custom avatar you want to delete.
  2. Click the three dots on the custom avatar.
  3. Select Delete.
