About
Use a rating scale to collect structured feedback from participants during a live session. Participants can rate a topic, experience, or statement on a fixed 1-to-5 scale using an emoji selected by the moderator.
You can prepare a rating scale before the session begins, then save it as a draft, schedule it, or publish it immediately.
Create a rating scale
- On the session page, click the Interactions tab in the upper-right corner to open the Interactions panel.
- Select Rating scale.
- Enter your question or statement, then select a rating scale emoji.
- Select any of the following:

The Rating scale window opens.

Star is selected by default. The scale always contains five rating options, and the emojis can’t be customized.
- Share results with attendees - Display the rating scale results to attendees.
- Set an answer timeout - Limit how long participants have to respond. When you select this option, an additional field displays:
- Default: 5 minutes
- Minimum: 1 minute
- Maximum: 120 minutes

Participants who have not yet responded see a countdown. When the response window ends, the rating scale closes automatically.
5. Set how long the rating scale notification remains visible to participants. Use the arrows to choose the duration:
- Seconds – From 5 to 60 seconds
- Minutes – From 1 to 10 minutes
Save, schedule, or publish the rating scale

- Save as draft – Save the rating scale without publishing it. You can find it later under Saved interactions.
- Publish now – Publish the rating scale immediately. Participants receive a notification when the rating scale is available.
- Schedule – Publish the rating scale at a specified time. Click the arrow next to Publish now and select Schedule. Schedule the rating scale relative to the session start or for a specific future date and time, then click Schedule. For full instructions, see Schedule interactions.
