Secure Share - Admin Guide

The Secureshare module allows embedding content inline that requires authenticationThe sections herein will guide you through logging into the Video Portal's Configuration Management section and enabling and configuring the Secureshare module

This module is for both Theming and non-Theming users.

Configure

1. Log into the Configuration Management console by going to your video portal URL and adding /admin at the end. 

2. Enter your Kaltura user ID and password.

3. Click Sign In. The Configuration Management console displays.

4. In the list of configurable items on the left of your screen, locate and click on Secureshare. 

The Secureshare item will be crossed out because it is disabled by default.

The Secureshare window displays.

The Module Info box displays the module name, description (what enabling this module allows users to do), and version number.

5. In the enabled pull-down list, select Yes to enable the Secureshare module.

Other configurable items following the enabled pull-down list are as follows. 

Configuration Name Options Description
playerId Free text What is the player ID of the player? If not specified, then Player->playerID will be used.
shareButtonText Free text The share button text on the share screen. Default is Secure Share. 
showTitle Yes or No Whether or not the entry title is displayed. 
showDefaultTitle Free text If showTitle set to No, type a default title to show for all entries. 
showDescription Yes or No Whether or not the entry description is displayed.
showDefaultDescription Free text If showDescription is set to No, type a default description to show for all entries. 
showThumbnail Yes or No Whether or not the entry thumbnail is displayed. 
showDefaultThumbnailUrl Free text If showThumbnail set to No, type default thumbnail to show for all entries. 
redirectToEntryPage Yes or No Whether or not the client should be redirected to the entry page. 
useKalturaURL Yes or No Whether or not the secureShare link should be a Kaltura URL. This should be used when the application that links are shared to has .kaltura.com as a whitelisted URL.
allowedAddresses Free text Click +Add "allowedAddresses" and provide IPs or ranges to allow access to OG tags. If none are configured, access is allowed to all.
thumbnailWidth Integer The embed thumbnail width size (Integer). If not specified, the width of the player (playerId) will be used.
imageFileExtension None, JPG, PNG, or BMP The image file extension to use for the thumbnail. If not specified, the default is None.

6. Click Save. You receive a notice that your configuration for Secureshare was saved and the cache was cleared.

End user experience

Once enabled and configured, a new embed capability is added to the entry page that allows users to secure embed in social networks using OG tags. This embed capability is displayed for Theming users as part of the Actions menu on the Entry page, and for non-Theming users as an additional tab - Secure Share - added to the Entry page.

Theming users:

Once enabled and configured, the Secure share option appears in the three dots menu on the media page for the end user.

After selecting the Secure share option in the three dots menu on the media page, the Share URL is displayed for the user. The user may then click Copy to copy the URL. 

Non-Theming users: 

Once enabled and configured for non-Theming users, the Secure share option appears as an additional tab - Secure Share - added to the Entry page.

After navigating to the Secure share tab, the user may then hover over the URL and click Copy link to share to copy the URL.
