This guide walks you through taking a video quiz, from starting the quiz and answering questions to reviewing results and submitting your score.
Use your keyboard to navigate
- Move between items: Press 'tab' to move forward and 'shift' + 'tab' to move backward.
- Select an answer: Use the arrow keys to move between answer choices: up/down for vertical lists, and left/right for horizontal lists
Start the quiz
- Open the video quiz. The 'Welcome' screen displays.
- Click Start Quiz when you’re ready.
If the quiz includes a Pre-test, you’ll see an option to download the questions and answers as a PDF.
After you start, the quiz opens and the video plays. The video pauses automatically when a question appears. Small white markers on the scrubber indicate where questions will appear in the video.
Answer questions
When a question appears, the video pauses and the question displays on screen.
- Select an answer, then click Continue to save it. A greyed-out button means the answer has been recorded.
- If Skip is available, you can move to the next question without answering. You can return and update answers anytime before submitting.
For open questions, type your response in the text box.
Some questions include a hint. Click Hint to view it, then close the window.
If the quiz creator added a rationale, you may also see a Why option.
Finish and review
After the final question, you’ll see a completion message.
If you skipped any questions, click Review to go back and answer them.
If you answered all the questions, the Quiz Completed popup appears. You can review your answers or click Submit.
When you click Review:
- The video restarts from the beginning.
- You can move through the questions and change your answers.
- Any unanswered questions are highlighted so you can complete them before submitting.
During review, click a marker on the scrubber to open and answer the question. You can also use the arrow buttons to navigate and answer them.
Submit your quiz and receive a score
Click Submit to send your answers. A confirmation message appears - click Done to close.
Retake the quiz (if allowed)
- If multiple attempts are enabled, the 'Welcome' screen shows how many attempts you have.
- After your first submission, the Submitted screen shows your score and remaining attempts. When you retake the quiz, your previous answers won’t be visible.
- If you’ve used all attempts, you won’t be able to retake the quiz again.
Session timeout
Quiz timeout is set by your administrator. The minimum is 1 hour (3600 seconds). If you step away, make sure you return before the session expires.
