These release notes pertain to Kaltura MediaSpace 5.60.12, released on May 22, 2017.
What's New
- KMS Go– As part of the new release of KMS Go, we have added a new module to KMS called KMSAPI that will allow you to setup your mobile app configuration. Please refer toKMS Go release notesfor more inforamtion.
- IVQ analytics – We have improved the CSV andprintable version reports produced by the IVQ.
- Accessibilty– This new KMS module will allow you to enable the Contrast button. Currently only supoprted on the old UI (new UI support will be added in the next release).
- "Add New" button – A new option was added to hide/show the "Add New" button in KMS for guests/anonymous users
- KMS admin changes
- Manage Users page – In the Manage Users section, the option to search by user ID was added.
- Login page – The KMS Admin login page title will now be taken from the Title field in the Application module. This will allow Admins to differentiate between instances when there are multiple instances on the account.

What's New
- Accessibiilty – Phase 3 out of 3 (planned for Q1 and Q2) has been completed, including additional enhancements to the Tabbing and Contrast features. The ability to provide contrast for accessibility was added to KMS.
- Contrast support - To enable the contrast button for KMS, please ask the Customer Care team to enable the Accessibility module.
Sorting on a Gallery Channel–The Gallery's Channels tab includes sorting capability that allows end users to sort through the related channels.
- Swedish and Italian support in KMS – Swedish and Italian language support was added to the KMS. These languages were contributed by our partners. For more information on the supported languages in Kaltura, please seethis page.
Playlist support in Channel Import– The Channel Import feature now supports the ability to import playlists. See Known Limitations for more information.

New Search display option – A new admin setting in the Search module will allow you to choose between the ‘instant search’ where the results show up on the fly (while typing), or to wait for the search button or Enter to display search results.

What's New
New text message – A new notification has been added when adding a user for collaboration, and channel users, explaining the search rules.
- Playlist embed from "My Playlists" can now be set to a non-flash player - A new option to allow non-flash player (V2) for playlist embed grabbed from "My Playlists" page was added. The KMS admin can set this option in embedV2SupportMyPlaylist, under embedPlaylist module.
- Note that the admin can choose not to enable a V2 player for these embeds and no change will be forced.
- Note that if the admin did choose to enable V2 player for these embeds, the embed settings will be done in embedV2 field.
- Facebook module player is now set to a non-flash player - The Facebook module player (embed media directly into a Facebook feed) now uses a default non-flash player (V2).

- Facebook Embed Quality Improvement- The embed quality was improved and can be set using the ‘useHighestQuality’ field in the Facebook module in the KMS admin.
- MediaSpace Links in PowerPoint- Opening links from PowerPoint (when SAML or SSO configured) is now supported.
- Enhanced settings for Embed on the Channel and Category level - Allow the KMS admin to decide on the default behavior of the embed when an entry is accessed in the context of a channel or category:
- Allow channel/category managers to block embed-grabbing from their channel/category (useful when managing copy-righted content whose consumption should be confined to the portal). For more information read here.
- Allow KMS admins to limit embed-grabbing to published content only
- Enhanced settings for secure embed - Secured Embed will perform an extra server-side check before rendering the Kaltura player, in order to provide category/channel managers with an additional level of control.
- Secure embeds grabbed from the channel context will track analytics at the channel level

These release notes pertain to Kaltura MediaSpace 5.47.04, released June 19, 2016.
What's New in This Release
- Persistent Cookies- On top of the existing session time configuration, KMS now supports persistent cookies to maintain the user login-state. The KMS administrator has 2 options to choose from for the user login state:
- A specific session length for the user (in auth/sessionLifetime)
- A persistent cookie which gives users endless session time (until cookies are deleted)
Notes: Option #2 is implemented as a custom KMS module. To enable this optioin on a KMS instance, please submit a request to Kaltura support or your Kaltura representative. Persistent cookies might raise security concerns as they hold an open session until cookies are deleted. Option #1 is no longer dependent on the KMS SaaS production update. (Sessions are ended no matter what the length was.) From now on, the session length is the only parameter for the login-state.
- Slides on Remote Storage- In accounts that are set with remote storage configuration, slides on entries are now stored and played from the remote storage location.
- Korean– Korean was added to the Languages list.
- UI Changes
- The following lists the text changes in the Publishing Schedule actions in the edit entry/details and in the upload form:
- "scheduling" changed to "publishing schedule”
- "any time" changed to "always"
- "specific range" changed to "specific time frame"
- Explanation text was added “(The time range in which this media will be visible to users in published channels/categories.)”
- The animated GIF in the “Import Channel” action was replaced.

What's New in This Release
- Changes in Browser Support for KSR - The note in the Kaltura Screen Recorder for Chrome users has been changed. The new version of the Chrome browser and Microsoft’s recent release of the Edge browser do not support Java plugins. Due to this recent change, te Kaltura Screen Recorder (KSR) is no longer supported in the following browsers due to the Java dependency:
- Google Chrome; Version 45 & up
- Microsoft Edge; All Versions
To use Kaltura Screen Recorder (until a solution for Chrome and Edge support is found), please use another browser such as Safari, Internet Explorer, or Firefox.
The note in KSR reflects this information.

What's New in this Release
- Refresh My Media – The Refresh option was added to the My Media window to provides a view of the recently added entries to My Media. Due to caching constraints, an entry may appear in the search results for example, but may not not appear in the My Media page. The Refresh option overcomes this constraint and displays the most recently added entries. To access the Refresh option, in the My Media window, select Refresh from the Actions drop down menu.
- A note was added in the Kaltura Screen Recorder for Chrome users - As of the latest version of Chrome (42), released last week, Google has decided to block Java by default, as described here. The Kaltura Screen Recorder (KSR) will not function in instances of Chrome that have recently been installed or which have auto-updated to the latest version. The Kaltura Screen Recorder continues to function properly in all other major browsers. To ensure that the Kaltura Screen Recorder continues to work properly in Chrome (42), Chrome needs to be set to use Java, using this flag: chrome://flags/#enable-npapi. For more information read here. If a user is using the Chrome browser, version 42, and did not enable the NPAPI flag, a message will be displayed in the KSR screen.

What's New in this Release
- Media Collaboration – Enable media owners to add co-editors and co-publishers to their media or to change the media owner altogether. Co-editors can edit entry's details and metadata, trim media, replace media, edit captions, edit chapters and slides (cannot delete media or add new co-editors and co-publishers). Co-Publisher can publish the media to their entitled Categories or Channels. The KMS admin can enable this feature in MediaCollaboration module.
- Note that if configuration will be set to 'no' after it was set to 'yes' and in the meantime some entries were added with co-editors and co-publisher, all co-editors and co-publishers will lose their ability to view, edit or publish the entries they took action on.
- Note that change owner feature has special configuration than co-editor/co-publisher and can be set to enable or disable without any dependency on the other two. The KMS admin do this in configuration field changeOwnerEnabled (which appears once mediaCollaborationEnabled is set to 'yes')

What's New in this Release
- Replace Media – Media owners can now replace their media, while keeping metadata, URL and analytics in place. The same functionality as in the KMC is now available in KMS and is configurable by the KMS admin under the replacemedia module. Note that only video entries can be replaced. Any time-based metadata on the entry will be kept in place and will probably be out of sync with the new media, and should be manually adjusted.
- Attached Files – Media owners can now attach files of any type to their media, enabling media viewers to download the file before, during or after viewing. This feature can be enabled by the KMS admin under the Attachments module.
- Audio Entries Thumbnail – Audio entries now have a player thumbnail similar to video entries.

What's New in this Release
- Playlist Management Changes – The user experience changes were applied to ‘add to playlist’ workflow, on entry page, My Media and My Playlist pages. Texts and components’ location was changed but functionality was not added or removed. No configuration is needed in order to view these changes.
- Playlist checkbox list was changed from horizontal to vertical view
- Button text was changed from "manage playlist" to "go to My Playlists" and was moved to the right side

What's New in this Release
- Search on Custom Metadata - Search results now show entries with matching text from custom metadata fields and not only basic metadata (title, description, text). Searchable custom metadata fields are of text type, at the moment. Results will include '+' sign that shows the custom metadata fields and the matching one will be highlighted. No admin configuration is required for this feature.
- Homepage playlist links to a playlist page - Playlists in the homepage ('most recent', 'most popular', etc.) showing 9 entries, are now clickable, leading to a playlist media page with the full list of playlist entries. All playlist (default and custom, manual and rule-based) that can be placed in the homepage will get this functionality. No admin configuration is required for that.
- Search for categories in media publishing workflow - When publishing an entry the users can choose publishing destination, Channels or Categories, both presented in different tabs. In Channels tab there is a search box to find the desired destination from the entire list and now in Categories tab a search box was added. Results of the search will be highlighted on the category tree. No admin configuration is required for that.

The admin can configure this feature in ‘twitter’ module and must input player ID and Twitter @username that the site will use. In order to use this feature ‘allowAnonymous’ in ‘auth’ module must be enabled as well and 'Default Entitlement Enforcement' on the partner should be disabled (same as in Facebook module).
- Public Channel – A new type of channel that allows anonymous users (guests) to view this channel (which is blocked for other channels) and the content published to it. When enabled, Channels gallery link will be available to anonymous users as well, but showing only public channels. - Update Channel Thumbnail - MediaSpace Channel Managers can set the thumbnail of their choice to their channels. This feature is available to all MediaSpace users. For more information see here.
- Playlist Secure Embed - MediaSpace administrators can now set the playlist embed to be secure (similarly to entry secure embed). MediaSpace entitlements will be enforced on a playlist that is embedded in external sites. When embedding a playlist to your sites and blogs, you will be prompted to authenticate (if not already authenticated). If a user is authorized to watch the media according to the entitlements defined in MediaSpace, the media will play. Otherwise, a message is displayed indicating that the user is not authorized to watch the media. Note that if playlist secure embed is not enabled, only public media is viewable in the playlist, However, when the playlist secure embed is enabled, you will be required to login (to display the addtional media aside from the public media of the playlist). Playlist secure embed cannot work when anonymous MediaSpace is enabled. Activate this feature in the KMS Admin > Embedplaylist module and set secureEmbed to Yes.
- Kaltura Screen Recorder Troubleshooting Guide - Since the Kaltura Screen Recorder uses Java which may cause issues on certain devices and browsers, a clarification note was added in the screen recording media creation. The note states that "The Kaltura Sscreen Recorder uses Java which has certain limitations on certain devices and browsers. For more information see here". We intend to add an option for MediaSpace Admins to enable/disable this note and to edit the text and link as they wish to.

What's New in this Release
Header Menu Links Location – MediaSpace administrators can now choose the location of where each added link will appear. Added links can be displayed in the header itself (as they did before) or in the user drop down menu that is part of the header (for example, “My Media”, “My Playlists, etc.). To define the location of your menu items of type URL, in your KMS Admin > Headermenu module, configure the linkLocation for each menu of type URL.
Default Media Privacy - MediaSpace administrators can now define the default privacy for each newly uploaded media. Prior to this change, each newly uploaded media's status was set to "Private" as the default. Now, MediaSpace administrators can configure every newly uploaded media to be set as "Unlisted" by default, and allow the media owner to change the privacy mode. To configure this option, from your KMS Admin > Publish module set the required value for defaultPublishStatusOnUpload. Note that this configuration is applicable only if Unlisted mode is enabled on your MediaSpace instance. You can check if it is enabled under Application > enableUnlisted.

- Auto - Kaltura server chooses between HTTP Progressive Download and Akamai’s HTTP Adaptive Streaming, based on entry duration and available flavors. Auto gives you the best video delivery and playback quality for your entry.
- HTTP Progressive Download – Allows you to pause the video playback and wait for the content to download. Typically used where viewers have very limited bandwidth and might experience more buffering than adaptive bitrate.
- HTTP Streaming (HDS) - HTTP streaming based on Adobe technology. Allows adaptive bitrate so the player can adjust the video quality on the fly based on network and CPU conditions.

- Secure Transport (RTMPE) - RTMP encrypted using Adobe's security mechanism which wraps the RTMP session in a lighter-weight encryption layer.

What's New in this Release
- Portuguese Localization - MediaSpace administrators can now select Portuguese as their MediaSpace language. From Application > Language, select pt-br.
- Upload Files over 2GB - MediaSpace now supports uploading files that are larger than 2GB. Note that this is supported in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and IE 10+.
- Static Pages - MediaSpace administrators can now add static/content pages to their MediaSpace site. These pages can be used, for example, to create help pages, privacy policies etc. From the KMS Admin, enable the Staticpages module. After you enable the module, you can add multiple pages to your site. Each page should include:
- Title - The title of your page to display as the page header
- Page 'slug' - The unique identifier for the page to be accessed as a URL. For example, if you provide 'privacy' as a slug, you can add links to your static page as [MediaSpace URL]/privacy. You can add these links in Navigation or Headermenu modules or anywhere you want to include links to your pages within the MediaSpace site.
- Permission - Which role and above can access the page.
- Content - The content of the page to display. You can use HTML markup and Bootstrap markup.
- Offline Download - This feature allows MediaSpace native application users to download media and view offline when there is no connectivity. To enable this feature, from your KMS Admin, go to Native > enableOffline = Yes and list the flavors that you would like to allow to download to mobile devices. Note that in order to use the MediaSpace Native Application an additional feature is required on your MediaSpace instance. If you are interested to try the MediaSpace native application, please contact your customer success manager.

What's New in this Release
- Publish live streams to channels and categories - Live streams that are provisioned from the KMC can be published and displayed in any channel or category. The streams are also found in search results. If the live entry is associated with the user ID of a MediaSpace user, it will be available from the media owner through "My Media", to manage and publish from MediaSpace.
- Provision a Live Event and Stream from MediaSpace - Authorized MediaSpace users can create a live event from MediaSpace that is provisioned instantaneously. Users are able to stream from MediaSpace using a web camera without the need for external encoding software.
NOTE: Provisioning a live event from MediaSpace requires the new Kaltura Live feature to be enabled on your partner. This feature is currently in limited avaialbility only and will be offered to selected customers during this time. See Live Streaming Using Kaltura Live Streaming (HDS / HLS / DASH) for more information.
Using live in MediaSpace requires you to update the uiConf of your main player to SWF URL version 3.9.7 or above.

What's New in this Release
- Enhanced Moderation Control - MediaSpace administrators can now define whether new channels that are created should be moderated by default. In addition, MediaSpace administrators can configure if the moderation option can be disabled by channel managers, to comply with use cases where moderation must be enforced. In the Channelmoderation module, you can set the moderationDefaultValue to define if the moderation option should be enabled or not by default when channels are created. The forceModeration parameter, in the same module, removes the checkbox from the channel creation form, allowing the MediaSpace administrator to control the moderation configuration centrally.
- Terms of Use and Disclaimer Messages
- Channel Creation - MediaSpace administrators can now configure a policy message that is displayed to users every time a channel is created. To configure a policy message, in the Channels module, you can set a value for the channelsTermUse parameter. The configured text is displayed in the top of the channel creation form.
- Add Member to Channel - MediaSpace administrators can configure a disclaimer message that is displayed to channel managers when adding members to the channel. To set the disclaimer, in the Channelmembers module, set the value of addMemberGuidelines. The configured message is displayed in the Add Member form.
- Policy Message for Users - MediaSpace administrators can now configure a policy message that is displayed to all users. The policy message is displayed when watching videos, next to the player, and when browsing content in a channel, under the channel info box. To configure this message, enable the Contentpolicy module and add the policy message to the contentPolicyText parameter.
- Helper Description for Metadata Fields - MediaSpace administrators can now set helper messages that are displayed next to each metadata field, to guide users when uploading or editing media. To set the description for the media Name, Description and Tags, under the Metadata module you can configure text for the parameters: basicNameFieldHelperText, basicDescriptionFieldHelperText and basicTagsFieldHelperText respectively. To display helper text custom metadata fields, make sure to enter a Description for each field in the custom data schema via the KMC.

What's New in this Release
- Clipping and Trimming - Media owners and users can now edit videos in the cloud. Media owners can trim videos that were previously uploaded and replace the current media. In addition, media owners can define the videos that other users can generate clips from. To enable this feature, enable the Clipper module in your KMS Admin.
- Auto-complete Tags - The 'Tags' field automatically completes values from tags that already exist in your application. This allows you to consolidate taxonomy and improve discoverability of your content.
- Default Channel Type - MediaSpace administrators can now configure the default channel type that is created when users create a new channel. To configure the default channel type, set the value of defaultChannelType under KMS Admin > Channels.
- Home Page Carousel Enhancements - You can now select the style of the home page carousel. In your KMS Admin, under Home > carouselStyle, you can select either a style where a single entry is displayed with a cropped image accross the entire width of the screen, or a style that displays the current entry in its orignal aspect ratio, plus a portion of the previous and next entries.
- Media Share URL - The URL to share media in the context of a channel now includes the context ID of the channel itself. The channel analytics for views that result in sharing the URL via email or other methods are tracked properly.

- Private Channel Comments: Channel managers can configure to keep all comments that are added in the context of a channel, private, even if the commented media is published in other channels. To enable this feature, in your KMS Admin > Comments, set showPrivateCommentsConfig to Yes. After this option is set, the new option is visible to channel managers in the Edit Channel Options page.
- Comments with Time Markers: Users can now comment on videos and reference a specific time frame in the video. To enable this feature, in your KMS Admin > Comments, set setshowAddTimedCommentsCheckbox to Yes. This allows you to select to add the time marker using a checkbox or to simply enter a time stamp in the comment itself. There is no need for a special markup, just enter the time reference as MM:SS or HH:MM:SS.

- Metadata Schema - The KMS admin can configure an additional schema that is applicable only for media added to Shared Repositories , including which fields from the schema are required before media can be published there. In the SharedRepositories module configuration select a metadata schema under customDataProfileId and optionally, select which fields are required under requiredFields.
- Thumbnail Management - You can upload thumbnails for your media entries from MediaSpace through the Thumbnails tab. Additional available options are: capture from a frame in the video, select one thumbnail out of 10 that are generated randomly, download current default thumbnail. To enable this feature, enable the Thumbnails module from your KMS Admin.
- Player Configuration - The ability to define the relative height of the player used in MediaSpace has been added, to ensure that it is displayed appropriately in the web responsive design The aspect ratio of the content in your MediaSpace site is maintained. In your KMS Admin, under Player you can set teh value of playerVideoRatioPercent.
- Search Enhancements:
- You can configure whether the global search is displayed in the header or sliding navigation panel. This can be configured from the KMS Admin under Navigation > showSearchBoxInHeader
- The Category/Channel search shows as a collapsed icon in the page tabs to better differentiate the global search.

This capability provides better control if you are trying to control who can create public and or private areas in MediaSpace. In your KMS Admin, under Channels you can separately set values for channelCreatorOpen, channelCreatorRestricted, channelCreatorPrivate and channelCreatorSharedRepository.

What's New in this Release
- Localization - You can now choose Spanish, French or German from the MediaSpace Admin to localize your MediaSpace site. In your KMS Admin, under Application you can set the language value.
- Unlisted Media - The URL to your media can be shared without the need to publish it to a category or channel. For each of your media entries, you can now select if the entry should be private, unlisted or published (to specific categories and/or channels). Unlisted media can be accessed by anyone with a direct link to the media page and will not show in search results. To enable this feature, in your KMS Admin under Application, you can set enableUnlisted.
- Secured Embed Code - MediaSpace entitlements are now enforced on media that is embeded in external sites. When embeding restricted or private media to your sites and blogs, you will be prompted to authenticate (if not already authenticated). If a user is authorized to watch the media according to the entitlements defined in MediaSpace, the media will play. Otherwise, a message will be displayed that they are not authorized to watch the media. To enable this feature, from your KMS Admin > Embed module set secureEmbed to Yes.
- Publish from Upload Page - You can now select the privacy settings for your added media from the upload page itself. When adding new media and editing the metadata, you can also select if the media will be private, unlisted or automatically published to specific categories and/or channels when the media is ready.
- Swipe Gestures for Home Page Carousel - You can use swipe gestures in your home page carousel when accessing MediaSpace on your mobile device browser or MediaSpace native app.

KMS-283 | Email notifications are sent even when the module is disabled. Workaround: Disable the individual events from the email notifications configuration page. |
KMS-839 | The HTML5 Image Player is inconsistent with the Flash Image Player. |
KMS-989 | The "Read more" link is displayed in a Category page even if the category does not have tags. |
KMS-1010 | The Search box in the My Media page may lose focus while typing. |
