Meet the new Express Capture
Express Capture 2.0 brings a fresh look and new recording features to Content Hubs, LMS Extensions, and, for the first time, Rich Media CMS.
It includes new and improved recording features, including a brand-new teleprompter.
Developers can also embed Express Capture 2.0 in their own websites and applications. See Embed Express Capture below for details.

The upgraded recording experience includes
Guided recording
Real-time feedback on positioning, lighting, and audio helps you get it right the first time.
- Framing assistance: An on-screen guide helps you position yourself in the shot.
- Lighting assistance: Get alerts when your surroundings are too dark or too bright.
- Audio feedback: Monitor your microphone levels and get alerts when your sound is too low or consistently too high.
- Improved recording controls: A redesigned toolbar, clear recording indicator, and pause/resume controls make recording easier. Expand to full screen without cropping your video.

Built-in teleprompter
Stay on script with adjustable scrolling speed and text size.
- On-screen script: Type or paste your script and follow it while looking at the camera. The script is visible only to you.
- Adjustable reading controls: Choose your preferred scrolling speed, text size, and contrast. Move the teleprompter anywhere over the preview.
- Automatic synchronization: Follow your script as it scrolls automatically, pausing and resuming along with your recording.

Professional appearance
Blur your background or choose a virtual background.
- Background blur: Choose between light and strong blur.
- Virtual backgrounds: Select from six built-in backgrounds or upload your own image.
- Saved preferences: Your selected background is remembered for your next recording.

Enhanced audio
Reduce noise, cancel echo, and balance audio levels for clearer sound.
- Noise suppression: Reduce unwanted background noise.
- Echo cancellation: Minimize echo during recording.
- Automatic gain control: Balance audio levels for more consistent sound.
Each audio setting can be turned on or off.
Flexible recording formats
Choose video quality and format settings, including portrait (9:16) recording for mobile-friendly content.
- Orientation: Record in landscape (16:9) or portrait (9:16), even with cameras that only support landscape capture.
- Video quality: Choose resolutions from SD to 4K and frame rates from 24 to 60 fps.
- Format and codec: Select from available WebM or MP4 formats and supported codecs.
- Mirror preview: Flip your camera preview without changing the recorded video.
Available options depend on your camera and browser.
Additional recording features
- Screen and camera recording: Record your screen and camera together as separate video streams, allowing viewers to switch between player layouts.
- Shared audio: Include audio from a shared browser tab or screen when supported.
- Review before saving: Preview your recording, record again, download a copy, or select Use this to upload it to Kaltura.
- Privacy by design: Recording assistance, background effects, and the teleprompter run locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to Kaltura until you select Use this.

Embed Express Capture
Advanced users can embed Express Capture 2.0 in their own websites and applications, and use the API to configure it.
For instructions and API options, see the Kaltura developer documentation.
