Collaborator roles and permissions in Content Hubs

About

Media owners can add collaborators to their media so other users can view, edit, publish, or moderate the media. Collaborators see the media in their own My Media area.

  • Collaborator permissions apply only to the selected media and don't change the user's role in the application.
  • Users can only be added as collaborators if they already have an account in the application.

To learn how to add, edit, or remove collaborators, see Add & remove collaborators on your media.

Available collaborator roles

The following collaborator roles are available:

Co-editor

Co-editors can:

  • Edit media details and metadata
  • Trim media
  • Replace media
  • Edit captions
  • Edit chapters
  • Edit slides
  • View analytics for media they co-edit

Co-editors can't delete media or add new co-editors, co-publishers, or co-viewers.

Co-publisher

Co-publishers can publish media to categories or channels they're entitled to access.

Being assigned as a co-publisher doesn't grant additional publishing entitlements. Users can only publish to locations they already have permission to use.

Co-publishers can also use the Invite to media and Guest links features.

Co-viewer

Co-viewers can view the media but don't have editing or publishing permissions.

Group collaboration

Groups can be added as collaborators. Users receive the permissions assigned to the group for as long as they remain members of that group.

Webcasting moderator

Webcasting moderators are available only for webcast entries.

Webcasting moderators can:

  • Send announcements
  • Manage questions
  • Interact with the audience during a live event

The Co-viewer role isn't available for webcast entries.

Collaborators and user roles

Adding a collaborator doesn't override the user's existing Content Hubs / legacy Video Portal role.

For example, a user with a viewer role can't publish content, even if they're assigned as a co-publisher for a media item.

Similarly, collaborator permissions don't grant access to categories, channels, or application features that the user isn't already entitled to use.

To learn more about application roles and permissions, see User roles and permissions.

Where collaborators can access media

All collaborator types can access the media and open its media page. If they have access to the My Media page, the media also appears in their My Media area.

The actions available to collaborators depend on the permissions assigned to them and their existing application role.
