Single-session vs multi-session events

About

Kaltura Events supports two event formats: Single session and Multi-session. Each format is designed for a different type of event experience.

Use this article to understand the differences and choose the right format before creating your event.

Single-session events

Single-session events include one session with one schedule and one set of event details. Event and session settings are combined into a single setup, which reduces configuration and setup time. Single-session events are available for Live webcast, DIY, and Pre-recorded events. They aren’t supported for Interactive sessions.

In single-session events, there’s no agenda page. Attendees are directed straight to the session page, which serves as the event’s main page. For the event team, the Overview page serves as the main page for managing the event.

This format works well for webinars, one-time live broadcasts, and events with a single speaker or presentation.

Multi-session events

Multi-session events contain multiple sessions managed within a single event site. Each session can have its own schedule, media, and interactive features, while remaining part of the same event. Attendees use the event site as a central hub to access and navigate all sessions.

This format works well for conferences, summits, and events with multiple speakers, tracks, or time slots.

Which format should I choose?

  • Choose Single session if your event has one main broadcast or presentation and you want the simplest setup.
  • Choose Multi-session if your event includes multiple sessions, tracks, or time slots and needs more flexibility.
