About
This guide explains how to configure Kaltura settings that support video assignment submissions in Moodle.
These settings apply when students submit videos using the Moodle Assignment activity with Kaltura Media enabled as a submission type.
This configuration works with both LTI 1.1 and LTI 1.3 deployments.
Step 1: Configure Kaltura settings
- Go to your Configuration Management console and click on the Browseandembed module. You can also navigate to it directly using a link: https://{your_site_URL}/admin/config/tab/browseandembed.
- Configure the following settings:

The Browseandembed page displays.

- enableAssignmentSubmission - Set to 'Yes' to display a confirmation popup when students submit media as an assignment.
- assignmentSubmissionText - This is the message that appears when students submit an assignment. The default text is: Would you like to submit media as an assignment? You can customize this message to fit your needs.
- assignmentSubmissionMaxRole - Set this to 'Contributor' to ensure students can see the submission confirmation popup when selecting an entry and clicking the 'Embed' button. (If you want users with a higher role to also see the popup, you can set it to a higher level.)

3. Click Save.
Step 2: Configure Moodle settings
- In Moodle, go to your Site administration page.
- On the Site administration page, click Plugins in the top menu.
- Scroll down to Local plugins and click Kaltura package libraries.
- Scroll down to Clone Submissions and enable it by clicking the box.
- Click Save changes.

The Plugins page displays.

The Kaltura package libraries page displays.

When 'Clone Submissions' is enabled, media is automatically submitted as an assignment and the confirmation popup controlled by enableAssignmentSubmission setting will not appear.
