Introduction to Kaltura CaptureSpace

Kaltura CaptureSpace enables easy media capture in class, at home, or on-the-go with automated publishing and interactive viewing within Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Kaltura’s MediaSpace video portal.

Endless Recording

Kaltura CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder (powered by Collaaj) enables users to create multi-stream recordings by using a vast array of recording devices, such as integrated webcams as well as professional USB connected video cameras. The Kaltura CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder automatically captures video, audio and your screen at the same time. Users can use up to three video outputs in addition to capturing a PowerPoint presentation or their screen. You can create videos at home, on the go, in your lab or at a lecture hall. CaptureSpace key capabilities include multi-source capture, integrations with third-party lecture capture products (leveraging the new Open Capture Standard), interactive viewing, and seamless integration with all leading LMS platforms.

Manage Content at your Fingertips

Using Kaltura’s Management Console, you can perform bulk ingestion and upload previously recorded content, create transcoding profiles, manage and create custom metadata and categories, design and configure players, create playlists, view analytics, and have complete control to access your media. With the CaptureSpace HTML5 Player and chapters' editor, viewers can shorten lengthy clips, search through the slide text and skip to the relevant point, playback the presentation side by side, and also view picture in picture. For more information see Viewing Rich Media in the Kaltura Player.

Captured content is managed in the Kaltura video platform that already powers cross-campus media management and publishing. This enables effective discovery and reuse of content across the institution.

Kaltura CaptureSpace Integration with LMS/Video Portal

CaptureSpace is pre-integrated with all the leading LMSs as well as with Kaltura’s video portal application, MediaSpace. All captured content is automatically available for publishing, including easy to embed videos via the LMS rich text editor, a course gallery, video assignments flows, video editing, and more. One-click-publishing is available in the LMS (Kaltura Video Building Block for Blackboard Learn, Kaltura Video Package for Moodle, Desire2Learn Digital Media Services Kaltura Plugin, Kaltura Video App for Canvas and Kaltura Video Took for Sakai) and in MediaSpace, Kaltura’s video portal. Additional capabilities such as clipping, trimming, thumbnail management, captions upload, and chapters editing are also available through the Kaltura platform.

Kaltura CaptureSpace Lite

Kaltura CaptureSpace Lite is a simple video creation tool that enables users to easily capture their webcam, voice, and screen using the same user interface and a limited subset of functionality our existing Premium CaptureSpace users leverage today.
