Browse Search and Embed Settings

This article describes the different options for embedding media.

You can select different players and player sizes that have been pre-configured by your system administrator for the type of media you choose to embed. Access to change the embed settings depend on your site's configuration. Please contact your system administrator for configuration changes.

To change the embed settings in the Embed Kaltura Media window

  1. Click on the Embed Settings icon.

The Embed Kaltura Media window is displayed for the type of media you selected to embed.
  2. Choose the player from one of the preconfigured players.
  3. Select the Max Embed Size - Since the player is responsive, the player can load smaller if the page it is in is smaller. Choose the player size from one of the preconfigured player sizes for the player selected.
In this example, two player sizes have been configured.
  4. Toggle either Thumbnail Embed or Auto Play on for the resulting embedded media to display.
    1. Thumbnail Embed – Instead of loading the player, load a thumbnail, that will load faster. After clicking on the thumbnail, the player will automatically start playing as the auto play is on by default. This option is very useful for pages where there are many Kaltura players, and you want to shorten the loading time.
    2. Auto Play – Set this to start playing the video automatically.
  5. Set as my default settings for media type: xxx – Use this check box to make these settings your new default. Once set for a media type, you will not need to enter the embed settings again for this type of media.
This setting overrides the admin embed settings however the timeline settings will not be saved as default.
  6. Set the Timeline (optional).  The Timeline option is only relevant for media of type video.
    1. Set the start and end time of a video.  You can select one or both check boxes.
    2. Use the clock icon to set the time currently displaying on the player as the start/end time or enter a time manually.  Enter the time in the format of hh:mm:ss. For example:1:23:03 indicating 1h, 23m and 03 sec.
Users playing the video, will start and end watching the video according to the time you set.
Users will be able to watch the rest of the video. For a more restrictive playback, create a clip of the video.
  7. Click Embed.
