These instructions are applicable for Kaltura CE version 5.0.x.
The Kaltura Community Edition is a free, open-source, self-hosted video platform that has been developed through the combined efforts of Kaltura and the community. The Kaltura CE is available under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.
Here you can find instructions on how to install and deploy your Kaltura CE. It is recommended that you read the guides before you start your installation and that you follow the instructions provided within the installation guides.
As part of your preparations you may also want to review the Kaltura CE V5.0 Release Notes.
Kaltura CE V5.0 has been tested on CentOS 6.2. It is possible to install Kaltura CE on other Linux distributions as well, however these types of installations currently are not supported by Kaltura.
Kaltura provides 2 deployment options for Community Edition V5.0
- Installation Guide - Generic Installation Package
This deployment option enables manual installation on a Linux machine. With this option, administrators are responsible for setting the installation prerequisites before running the installation script.
- Pre-installed VMware Image Package
This package contains a CentOS 6.2 VMware image, already set with all Kaltura CE installation prerequisites and pre-installed with Kaltura software. With this option administrators can set the image to run either run on a local 64-bit PC desktop with a VMware Player or to run in a VMware ESXi server environment. A quick configuration script is used with this option to set local environment parameters (for example, domain name and administrator credentials).
This option enables a faster and easier setup and is recommended for evaluation and/or development purposes as well as for running a live service.
The Kaltura CE is a community-supported open source project. The best place to get help with installation procedures is in our Community Forums.
